Living out my passion!

This past week was such a wonderful week filled with fashion, joy, and friendship building. I have been working with teens for a little less than two months now and honestly it has been a little difficult. Seeing my girls twice a week for about one hour each day just hasn't been enough time for me to get to know them and for them to get to know me. But this week I really feel like it took a turn for the better. :) On Monday and Tuesday we did a fashion show where the girls had to design an outfit for their models. It was amazing to just have fun with them and to see some of them show off their passion for fashion (rhyming not intended). It was great to just be goofy with them and enjoy each others company. Sometimes girls just need to be girls.

Then on Wednesday I had the privilege of sharing my testimony with them. They had asked a week or so earlier to hear more about my story so we presented the opportunity and it was great! We then had a chance to be in small groups where for the first time I was able to talk about anything with them just me and them. Normally when they are all together with me and the other leader I work with there are frustrating times for me because they forget to speak English with me and so it is hard to have conversations with them. But it was so great being in smaller groups where that wasn't a problem at all. It was the first time I was really able to just talk to them and encourage or give advice about whatever. One thing in particular that they were interested in was my purity ring on my hand. I told them about my church at home and how we had a ceremony where we dedicated our lives to purity until marriage and they asked some personal question about my purity leaving them shocked. Being a 24 year old woman who has never even held a guys hand left them in awe and hopefully had a great impact on them. It is amazing how much I love these teens and I can't wait to see what God does in this next season! Starting next week we are doing team building activities that I learned while I was doing my sports internship this past June. I am nervous about it because I have NO CLUE what I am doing but that's okay. The other day I was reading in Acts 14 about Paul and Barnabas. Through them I was reminded of being bold, humble, and having strength. If you haven't read it you should because they are incredible men of God! Nothing kept them from spreading the word and for that they have become heroes of mine! Anyways, please keep this next month of September in your prayers. We will be focusing on community and unity in Christ. I will keep you updated on how it's going. Have a blessed day! Cheers!
